I’ve had square nails pretty much my whole life and I was in the mood for a change. I really love stilettos and pointed nails but I can’t function when my nails are long. I decided to start off slow and give them a little point and see where they went from there. I figured I would let grow a little and get a little pointier each time. I put a thin layer of acrylic over then so the points didn’t break off since my nails were so weak from school. They looked more rounded than they do pointy the first time but I’m getting there!
I did a mix of some blue and orange tribal, cheetah, and glitter! I used Chanel June on my ring finger and the rest of the designs were done with acrylic paint. The glitter nail was loose sliver glitter I cured into gel polish.
I wanted to test out a gel topcoat over regular polish so I tried it on these. I know some people who do it all the time and it works out great and others who get cracks and chips. I thought it might help with drying time and keep them on longer but it didn’t turn out at as great as I planned. The polish dried on the surface but the inside was still wet so I had to be really careful not to dent or smush them. They didn’t last very long either. After a day or 2 they started to crack and looked horrible so off they went! Ive been reading around and watching some videos and its supposed to work better if your nails are completely dry. It also depends on which brand you use so I guess I need to keep trying until I find one that works. Have any of you used gel topcoat over polish? Which ones do you use??
